| My husband, Rich, and I live in Mount Vernon, Iowa where Rich was a long-time professor of English at Cornell College. At least three nights a week he can be seen playing the vibraphone with the Eddie Piccard Jazz Quartet. Our daughter, Sarah, and her family live in Madison, Wisconsin, and our son, Justin, and his family live in the Boston area. My first books were written when the children were very young. As a young child Justin's nickname was "Bizzy." He was the inspiration for the first Bizzy Bones book. In the book, Bizzy drummed on cans to drown out the sound of the wind. Justin enjoys playing the drums, too. | ![]() Sarah and Justin |

| Four of my books have won Maine's Lupine Award given to exemplary books which are set in Maine or written by an author with a Maine connection. My childhood in Maine contributes bits and pieces to each of my books. The Maine country side with its stone fences and open fields have become a backdrop for many of my stories. |
