| My first books were written when the children were very young. As a young child Justin's nickname was "Bizzy." He was the inspiration for the first Bizzy Bones book. In the book, Bizzy drummed on cans to drown out the sound of the wind. Justin enjoys playing the drums, too. |

| Sarah enjoyed books and reading from the time she was a very young child. On December 31, 1998 Sarah married Reed Busse. In 2001 they became parents of our first grandchild. |

| Three of my books have been won Maine's Lupine Award given to exemplary books which are set in Maine or written by an author with a Maine connection. My childhood in Maine contributes bits and pieces to each of my books. The Maine country side with its stone fences and open fields have become a backdrop for many of my stories. | ![]() |
| Stone walls show up in the Bizzy Bones books and in The Finest Horse in Town. Readers will spot something of the Maine country side in many of my books. |
