A Quilt for Jane

Created by friends

In the spring of 1997, a devastating flood hit Grand Forks, North Dakota. Children's book author, Jane Kurtz and her family's two story house was in the path of the flood. Jane and her family lost most of their belongings. This quilt was created, by some of Jane's "literary" friends, as a gesture of friendship to her and her family. The quilt is like a story, a story that Jane's friends wrote to say that we were thinking of her. The quilt was pieced together by myself and my mother who is in the quilt picture below.

Each of her friends created a block or two -- the blocks were pieced together and in the spring of 1997 this friendship quilt was sent to her.

If you have a quilt project -- a story you would like to share -- send the story to me and we will try to put as many stories as we can on these pages. Let us know if you have a picture of the quilt.
